As I wrote a few days ago. . . there are thousands of reasons that we should make reading scripture a daily habit! The second reason that I want to suggest is Hope and Comfort.
2. Hope and Comfort
The Bible is a great source of hope and comfort. We sometimes find ourselves hurtful situations when the words people offer to us, even our closest friends and family, seem to miss the mark.
The Bible is a great source of hope and comfort. One of the best places to find God’s words of hope and comfort are in the Psalms. “The Lord is my shepherd. . .” God is always there for us, God is with us, God cares for us – especially when we need to be comforted.
Elsewhere the Psalmist writes,
“The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid? I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”
- Psalm 27: 1; 13
We all experience times in life when we need hope and comfort. Anytime we need hope and comfort – God offers it to us in His Word.
